About Catrece
Catrece is a classically trained vocalist with an intense love for music. In fact, she breathes through music and finds it to be very therapeutic. Her deep appreciation for music began at a very early age and she soon realized that it was her passion. Affectionately named "Songbird" by her admirers, Catrece embraces the actual art of moving souls with her voice. She believes, "A song should take you on a journey, if for only a few minutes. It should transform you in that moment. Move you to believe the story."
Catrece understands the capacity music has to touch the heart of a listener. When she looks into the audience and sees someone wiping tears, she feels as if she has done her job.
Experience
Catrece has been teaching voice fore nearly 16 years. Prior to cultivating talents in others, she won first place in several solo and ensemble contests. She also beat out hundreds of contestants to win the spot as the lead singer of The All City Jazz Band.
Catrece has never allowed outside factors to dictate when and where she preformed. She has always been determined to carve her own path. In 2009, she fulfilled her dream of putting on a live concert by renting a theater and inviting many friends to attend. Over 700 people came out to show their support! Later, Catrece went on to organize similar events with audiences totaling well over 1,000 in attendance. Catrece is in her natural element engaging audiences with effortless appeal. She fully embraces each experience: "Performing is my drug of choice. Nothing could ever compare".
Working with Catrece
Catrece loves teaching voice.
"I meet each student where they are. I find out what they need first then focus on their goals and desires.
Each session begins with a physical warm up followed by a vocal warm up. We then dive into a selected piece of music where we work on breathing, posture, tone, pitch, diction, enunciation, and the art of telling a story through a song. Each student is different so I customize my approach".
